Turner ECS supplies Woodward gas control and trip/block valves for heavy frame gas turbines and aero-derivative gas turbines. Fuel control valves are available in several sizes with either hydraulic or electric actuation.

GS6 Gas Fuel Control Valve
Woodward’s GS6 gas control valve is an electrically actuated control valve used on industrial and aeroderivative gas turbine engines that require gas fuel flows up to 15,000lb/hr (6803 kg/hr).The valve assembly can be used for base turbines or in a multiple valve configuration for low emissions requirements.

The gas throttling section of the valve uses a self-cleaning, shear type of action that keeps the control port free of contamination that can inhibit optimal performance. Five control port sizes are available (0.15, 0.30, 0.45, 0.60, 0.75 sq in) for optimized fuel flow in a variety of application scenarios. The GS6 gas valve is electrically actuated with an on-board driver and can accommodate fuel gas or ambient temperatures to 200°F (93°C).

GS16 Gas Fuel Control Valve

Woodward’s GS16 gas control valve is electrically actuated for use on industrial and aeroderivative gas turbines that require gas fuel flows up to 30,000 lb/hr (13607 kg/hr). The valve assembly can be used for base turbines or in a multiple valve configuration for low emissions requirements.

The gas throttling section of the valve uses a self-cleaning, shear type of action that keeps the control port free of contamination that can inhibit optimal performance. Three control port sizes are available (1.0, 1.5, 2.0 in2) for optimized fuel flow in a variety of application scenarios. The GS16 gas valve is electrically actuated with an on-board driver and can accommodate fuel gas or ambient temperatures to 200°F (93°C).

3103/EM35MR Gas Fuel Control Valve

Woodward’s 3103 control valve is an electric, stainless steel valve for use on DLE and SAC based aeroderivative gas turbines.

The valve is capable of metering gas flow between 50 and 40 000 lb/hr (23 and 18 144-kg/hr). It is designed to be corrosion resistant and self-cleaning, allowing it to operate in sour gas environments (high sulfur content gas) that can cause problems for other valves.

The 3103 valve is known for its high torque motor with a continuous of 24.9 N•m and a peak torque of 62.4 N•m. Due to these high torque values this valve is often used in applications with dirty gas.7

GSOV25 Gas Shutoff Valve

The GSOV25 gas shutoff valve provides shutdown on a gas turbine by rapidly halting the flow of gaseous fuel. The supply pressure is used to move a springloaded piston in the valve.

Gas flow is stopped when the valve is closed, with zero leakage from inlet to outlet. The normally closed valve may be used for emergency and normal shutdown operation.

EGMV Gas Fuel Control Valve
EGMV Gas Fuel Control Valve
Woodward’s EGMV (Electric Gas Metering Valve) controls gas fuel flow into the combustion system of an industrial or aeroderivative gas turbine. The valve and all-electric actuator are integrated for precise gas flow under all operating conditions, and is available in either a 2” contoured plug design or a 3” cage valve design. Both sizes provide a linear effective area characteristic that is proportional to valve stroke.

The EGMV is supplied with an integral all-electric actuator that uses a brushless dc motor to drive the valve mechanism. A motor position resolver within the motor assembly acts as the primary motor commutation and actuator/valve position feedback device. This position signal is used by the external Woodward DVP (Digital Valve Positioner) as feedback to properly position the EGMV.

A second resolver is attached to the valve stem and acts as a backup to the primary motor resolver. The actuator portion of the EGMV Gas Control Valve uses a soft stop spring that prevents the actuator from slamming into the minimum stop position in cases of fault detection.

 

HGV Gas Fuel Control valve

The Hydraulic Globe Valves (HGV) control the flow rate of natural gas fuel to various stages of an industrial gas turbine combustion system. The unique design integrates the valve and actuator into a compact assembly.The valve is designed to provide a highly accurate flow-versus-stroke characteristic.

The integral actuator is a single-acting spring-loaded design that will quickly close the valve upon loss of electrical or hydraulic signals. An integral hydraulic filter assures the reliability of the servovalve and actuator components. The servovalve is an electrically redundant dual-coil design. A dc-powered LVDT (DCDT) provides feedback for the actuator.
